What Committee Members Do
Attend monthly Committee meetings (typically the fourth Thursday of every month at 6pm at Rhinebeck Town Hall)
Attend County Committee meetings
Lead Subcommittees (Communications, Organizing, Fundraising, etc)
Gather petitions for candidates at all levels of the ballot
Volunteer and support Democratic candidates
Engage our local Rhinebeck community in civic conversation
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO JOIN THE COMMITTEE?
There are 18 Committee Members assigned to our 5 Districts based on the Democratic population of each District as defined by our Dutchess County Democratic Committee.
The Committee can appoint any registered Democrat in the Town to fill any Member vacancy until the next County Committee meeting
Any Registered Democrat who lives in the Town of Rhinebeck may stand to join the Committee by gathering petition signatures from their fellow Democrats during the 2025 NY Primary when all Committee Members gather petition signatures to renew their term of membership.
If fewer people gather sufficient petitions for a District than the number of Committee Members assigned to that District, those who gathered sufficient petitions will be the Committee Members for that District.
If more people gather sufficient petitions for a District than the number of Committee Members assigned to that District, Town Democratic voters will elect the number of Committee Members assigned to that District from the options of all the people who gather sufficient petitions for that District at the NY Primary Election.
